Runner's High Herbals Review

Last month, I participated in an Instagram giveaway hosted by Missy and I won!! My prize? A prize pack from Runner’s High Herbals and it was full of so much awesome!  I’ve heard great things about their products and I couldn’t wait to try them. My prize pack included:

  • Super Herb Plus+
  • Chill AF Muscle Rub
  • Bee Healed!
  • Heel the Sole
  • Wildcrafted Pinon Salve
  • Peppermint in the Pines Lip Balm
  • Super Herb Oil Blend
  • Stickers
  • Cinch Bag

The first thingI did when I received the items was open them and smell them.  I am super sensitive to smell – if a product has a smell I don’t like, it is definitely a deal breaker for me, no matter how amazing the product might be.  These all smelled amazing!  I love earthy and natural smells- these products have just that.

Each product is designed to do something different and I gravitated towards using the ones that aide in muscle recovery with anti-inflammatory and pain relief ingredients. My favorite has been the Super Herb Plus+ stick-- I used it post runs on the areas where I sometimes have muscle cramping issues.  Let's be real-- I'm on a run streak and sometimes my legs get tired.  I try to be proactive in maintaining my recovery and remaining injury free.  I'm not a medical professional and can't honestly say if this has medical benefits.  But I can tell you that it's not hurting me and I'm happy to add it to my recovery and training process.

Another one of my favorite products has been the Peppermint in the Pines lip balm.  I love a good lip balm and you can never have too many.  It left my lips feeling hydrated without feeling waxy.  It also passed my "on the run" test-- I've had lip balms melt in my running pack when I'm running and this one didn't do that!

After one of my long runs, I had a small flare up of the tendonitis in my foot-- I used the Super Herb Oil Blend with my other recovery methods and loved it!  The mix of arnica flowers and turmeric have an amazing smell and it wasn't too oily. It's also easy to use in a convenient roller bottle.

I can't wait to use the rest of my products when I need them.  I love the simplicity of the Runner's High Herbal packaging but in that packaging comes an amazing product.  Sometimes less is more and that is definitely true with these.

Have you used Runner's High Herbals products? What do you use to help in your recovery?

Until next time, happy running.

Valentine's Day Gift Guide for the Runner You Love

Whether you’re someone who loves Valentines’s Day, someone who celebrates Singles Awareness day or someone who thinks it’s just another day, it’s always a good time to get something for that someone special in your life. If you’re shopping for  a significant other, your best friend or even yourself, here’s some things that I think are great for showing some love to the runner in your life.

73 Threads
Have you seen the tees and tanks made by 73 Threads? Not only are there some great prints, you get to pick your color tee or tank. The hardest part will be deciding which one you like best.  (And a big thank you to my friend Smitha for sharing the love-- use SDMOM to save 10% off your order.) And they aren't just for runners-- they have everyone covered from Triathletes to Sweet Tea drinkers.

Chocolate
Seems cliché, right?  But I’m not just talking about your normal chocolates.  I’m talking about Vega Protein Smoothie mix.  I actually am not a huge fan of chocolate, but I love my Vega chocolate smoothies.  Add a banana and peanut butter—amazing!  (And the other flavors if Vega are delicious too!)

Brown bananas make the best smoothies!

Burts Bees Lip Balm
I randomly picky up a tube of this last year and now I can’t get enough.  I carry it with me when I run, have a tube in my purse and use the tinted version when I need to dress in non-running clothes.  There are several flavors and is perfect for any runner or non-runner in your life.

Flowers
No, not those kind of flowers.  Did you know that Sparkle Athletic recently debuted capris and check out how cute the floral print is! Complete with a pocket, these capris are definitely the best kind of flowers to receive.

Time
You don't need to be a runner to spend time with someone who runs.  Take some time and go for a walk/hike/run.  If getting outside isn't your thing, spend some time cooking together or anything else that they like to do.  If given the option to run or spend time with a loved one, the time with a loved one wins hands down every time. (And if you're not sure what to do, a quick Google search will give you options. It's one of my favorite ways to discover new places)

Goodr Sunglasses
For a “free” sport, running can get expensive so I was super excited when I discovered sunglasses that were cute and inexpensive. Goodr sunglasses provide a “no slip, no bounce, all polarized, all fun” experience and can you believe they’re under $30?!  I have the “Flamingos on a Booze Cruise (pink)” and the “Donkey Goggles (orange)” but all the colors are fun.

In keeping with the spirit of love, Goodr has given me a pair of their sunglasses to share with you. Enter the giveaway below.

Miles and Pace: Review and Giveaway!

A couple months ago, I was "introduced" to a local company, Miles & Pace.  They make three of my favorite "Ts"- t-shirts, tanks and trucker hats.  After getting in touch with them, I was sent two products to review.

Source: www.milesandpace.com
The first thing I noticed about Miles & Pace is their vibe, which they describe on their website as "a laid back active lifestyle brand that marries our love for branding, graphic design and running... it's inspirational, it's fun, it's family." I love supporting local businesses, especially ones who stand behind their products.

I was excited when mail day came.  Both items were individually wrapped and the box included a thank you card and a few Miles & Pace stickers. (I love running related stickers!) I love the color of the hat and the tank top is super soft.  I am definitely impressed with the quality.

The tank comes in several colors-- I love the purple! And how fun is that logo, Sunday Runday?! The fabric is runner friendly and it's not see through, which is a big win in running tanks.  It has a slim fit and if you're in between sizes you may want to consider sizing up.  I definitely plan on adding a few of these to my running wardrobe.  They also recently released a finishers tank for casual wear that I can't wait to get!

I  am in love with the trucker hat!  I am not someone who normally runs in a hat, but it is super comfortable.  The color is fun and it's well made-- it doesn't feel like the logo is going to come off.  It's become my go to hat for errands and everyday wear.  Now my only dilemma is what color I want to get next!

I am fortunate to live in Southern California, where tanks and hats are a staple part of my summer wardrobe. (and by summer, I mean year round....) I am loving Miles & Pace and I want to share that love with you.  I am giving away a purple "Sunday Runday" in size small. Just enter below.

New Balance More

It is sometimes said that “less is more,” so when NewBalance  released their new shoe, More, I was intrigued to find out if sometimes “more...
